A Cry of Resilience: Standing with South Lebanon’s Border Villages
On March 17, 2026 - The Maronite Foundation in the World joined the cry of pain and concern voiced by the border villages from the Catholic Media Center, reaffirming its full support for our people in South Lebanon and emphasizing that their steadfastness on their land is a testament to their courage and deep sense of belonging to the country.
A special tribute goes to the residents of the towns of Qozhaya and Alma Al-Shaab, where many families were forced to leave their homes, while the people of other villages chose to remain on their land, embodying the highest values of courage, solidarity, and attachment to their homeland, and demonstrating exceptional bravery and unity in the face of hardship. Their resilience on their land is a message of hope for all of Lebanon.
The Foundation also affirms that the Church and Maronite institutions stand by them, offering support and solidarity, so that these villages may remain alive through their people, their faith, and their deep roots in the land of their forefathers.
Lebanon remains strong through the resilience of its people.
