President Michel Aoun Receives The Maronite Foundation Delegation

On May 28, 2025 His Excellency the President of the Republic, General Michel Aoun, received the President of the Maronite Foundation in the World, Mrs. Rose Choueiri, leading a delegation that included MP Neemat Frem and several members of the Foundation’s Board of Trustees.
Mrs. Choueiri delivered a speech congratulating the President on his election and on the achievements accomplished since assuming office. She presented the Foundation’s activities in Lebanon and its 19 offices abroad. She highlighted the Maronite Academy project, which has attracted more than 400 youth of Lebanese descent who participated in an online educational course on Lebanon’s history, heritage, the history of the Maronite Church, and its archaeological and religious landmarks. The Foundation plans to invite the 90 successful participants, at its own expense, to visit Lebanon from August 2–17, 2025, hosted by the Holy Spirit University, to attend lectures and visit historical, touristic, and religious sites.
The delegation also discussed with the President the proposal to remove the ten-year period stipulated in Nationality Law No. 41/2015 and the topic of allowing Lebanese abroad to vote in the election of all 128 parliamentary deputies in their countries of residence.
President Aoun praised the goals of the Maronite Foundation in supporting the diaspora in strengthening their connection to Lebanon and helping families remaining in Lebanon endure ongoing crises. He emphasized that the state’s role is to support the diaspora, reinforcing their attachment to the country. He noted that the Lebanese diaspora, across all its communities, represents Lebanon’s greatest wealth and contributes to its reconstruction and prosperity, ranking third globally in remittances to Lebanon.
The President also commended the Foundation’s tireless work, congratulating it for continuing its mission in Lebanon and abroad despite difficulties and crises. He acknowledged its efforts in helping diaspora members reclaim the nationality of their parents and grandparents and encouraged its members to persist in this vital work, as the nation urgently needs collective efforts to ensure its security and prosperity.
Finally, President Aoun tasked the relevant offices with following up on the matters discussed during the meeting. The Foundation expressed its best wishes for his continued success in strengthening Lebanon’s security and stability and offered all its human and logistical resources at his disposal.
