A Delegation from the Maronite Foundation Visited the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Emigrants

 
On July 5, 2023, A delegation from the Maronite Foundation, including President Charles Hage, Vice President Rose Choueiry, board members Amal Abouzeid, Dany Aoun, and Thierry Abinader, as well as Managing Director Hiam Boustany, visited Lebanese Minister of Foreign Affairs Dr. Abdallah Abou Habib. The delegation discussed the Foundation's plans for the coming years, requesting cooperation with the embassies and consulates regarding the registration of marriages and new births of Lebanese citizens living abroad. The delegation expressed gratitude to Minister Abou Habib for his cooperation in organizing successful Lebanese Day events in Washington and Mexico, attended by over 1000 people, and promised an even bigger event for next year. They also thanked the Minister for efforts in Mexico City, where the ambassador's wife hosted a fundraising lunch in support of a solidarity educational program.
The Foundation also raised the need for the revival of the "Lebanity" portal to facilitate application processes. They discussed the status of over 600 applicants requesting Lebanese citizenship, still awaiting a decision at the Prime Minister's office. Additionally, the Foundation expressed readiness to support the Ministry's efforts regarding the Syrian refugee crisis and to lobby the international community for a just resolution. They pledged to send a detailed study to the Ministry highlighting the negative impact of the displaced Syrian population on the Lebanese economy, demography, and quality of life.
Both parties reaffirmed their commitment to working together for the betterment of the Lebanese community, at home and abroad.
