Maronite Foundation takes part in Synod of Bishops, provides study on situation of refugees

The Maronite Foundation in the World participated in the annual Synod of the Maronite Bishops, chaired by Patriarch Bechara Boutros al-Rai to brief him on the summary of its activities over the past year.

The Foundation presented its annual report, in which it explained what it accomplished as well as the challenges it faced in communicating with Lebanese expatriates. The Foundation continued to urge the expatriates to strengthen ties with their motherland, starting with birth registration and encouraging them to visit Lebanon. The Foundation also informed the expatriate community of its annual trip for around 100 young Lebanese from the diaspora to visit their country of origin, Lebanon. Its goals are to strengthen the relationship between Lebanese residents and the diaspora and to improve the image of Lebanon in the new generation's mind to instill a sense of pride in their Lebanese roots.

The Maronite Foundation presented to Patriarch Rai the first version of an in-depth study on the situation of the Syrian refugees in Lebanon from the beginning of the Syrian war. The study analyzes the risk and dangers on the economic, social, demographic and political situations in Lebanon, as a result of the refugee crisis.
